TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION

We have written a great many books in the past fifteen years and have learned a lot in the process.

We have had the privilege of talking to specialists and engineers to extract information and of studying some very interesting high-tech systems, software and equipment in order to document these for the users of the future.

Our track record...

We have covered call-centre software, periscopes, IFF Systems, guns, EW Systems, radars, docking theory, physics, statistics and cryptography.

We have used and are comfortable with South African Defence Force documentation standards, as well as European and American documentation standards.

Our customers for technical documentation include Carl Zeiss South Africa, the South African Navy, Reutech, Denel Land Systems, Saab Avitronics, the Overberg Test Range, Altech ISIS, Ultra Electronics PMES in the UK and Tellumat.

Our methods...

We focus on and enjoy content development rather than large scale production (which we prefer to subcontract to trusted suppliers).

We have found access to inhouse system and logistic engineering experience and expertise to be essential to producing practically useful documentation of high quality.

By necessity, we have developed an inhouse editing and quality assurance expertise which has proven to be rather useful.

We believe in close liason with our clients, especially early on in a project, to ensure our thorough understanding of material and client requirements.  Once we have gathered all available source material, we rapidly produce draft documentation (including photographs and illustrations) for comprehensive customer redlining and review, which is then updated to final status and delivered.

Our tools...

We use commonly available tools (Microsoft, OpenOffice, CorelDRAW, SolidWorks and LaTeX) and have worked with edulex.com and R&M Technologies using their VirtualBookŪ and RAMLOG.net to facilitate electronic and online delivery of documentation and specifically Illustrated Parts Breakdowns.
